Beautiful Matcha bowl, slow shipping

I ordered a Matcha bowl and a set of Chopsticks and rests from Becos. The ordering process was straightforward on their website, though I had a small issue with payment authentication, which was resolved quickly by their support team via email. The items arrived well-packaged in about 12 days to California, which felt a bit long, but they were in perfect condition. The Matcha bowl is truly stunning, with intricate details, and the chopsticks are good quality. The craftsmanship is evident, and they feel authentic. I do wish the shipping was a little faster, but overall, I'm happy with the purchase and the quality of the crafts.

Reliable source for quality

I've ordered from Becos a few times now, and they've been pretty consistent. My latest purchase was a Nambu Tekki ironware teapot, and it arrived in perfect condition, just like the Arita ware ceramics I got last year. Shipping took about 8 days to get to me in California, which is standard for them. The quality of the crafts is always top-notch, and they pack everything so carefully. I keep coming back because I know I'll get authentic pieces. My only minor issue is that sometimes tracking updates are a bit slow to show up, but the items always arrive. Definitely my go-to for Japanese crafts.

Good value on a first purchase

I was looking for a unique gift and stumbled upon Becos. I ended up buying a Katana letter opener. I signed up for their newsletter and got a 500 Yen discount on my first order, which was a nice bonus. The letter opener itself felt solid and looked really cool, definitely not something you'd find just anywhere. Shipping was free because my order crossed the threshold, which made the overall price quite reasonable for such a unique item. I felt like I got good value for my money, especially with the discount and free shipping combined. The only small thing was that it came in a plain box, I was kinda hoping for some fancier packaging given it's a gift.

Nice products, delivery could improve

I ordered a beautiful Arita ware ceramic plate from Becos. The product itself was lovely, truly well-made and matched the photos perfectly. It arrived safely, which was a relief given how delicate it is. Shipping took a little longer than I expected, about 10 days to get to my place in California. The tracking updates were a bit spotty too. Overall, I'm happy with the plate, but the delivery experience could be smoother for international orders.

Quick delivery, good quality

I bought a Katana letter opener. It arrived in about 10 days. The item is well-made. Packaging was secure. No issues. A bit pricier than I expected for a letter opener, but it's a unique piece.

Love my new Kimono robe!

Oh my goodness, my new Kimono robe from Becos is just wonderful! The fabric is so soft and the design is absolutely gorgeous. I ordered it last week and it got here pretty fast, like 8 days! I can't wait to wear it all the time. I'm already eyeing a pair of Geta sandals to go with it. Definitely shopping here again!

Good value on Sake set

I was looking for a nice Sake set and found one on Becos. I signed up for their newsletter and got a small discount, which helped. The price was competitive, especially for a handmade item. Shipping took about a week and a half, which was okay. The set itself is beautiful and seems well-made. I felt like I got good value for my money, especially with the first-time buyer offer. I'd consider buying from them again for gifts.

Smooth order for quality Sake set

My experience ordering a Sake set from Becos was quite positive. The website was easy to navigate, and I found exactly what I was looking for quickly. Placing the order was straightforward, and I received a confirmation email promptly. They packed the set very securely; each piece was individually wrapped and cushioned, which I appreciated since it's fragile. It arrived in about a week. The quality of the Sake set is excellent, really authentic and feels like it will last. I had a quick question about care instructions, and customer service responded to my email within a day, which was helpful. My only minor quibble is that the product description could have included a bit more detail on the origin of the specific artisan, but that's a small detail.

Hey, I'm looking at some of the Edo Kiriko glasses here, they look amazing. Just wondering how fragile these are for shipping? I'm in NYC.

J Jeff Williams 4 weeks ago
Mine arrived super well-packaged, like, they really padded it up. No issues at all, and I got a sake set which is pretty delicate.

yeah they use some serious packing, saw a review on youtube where someone unboxed a vase and it was basically bomb-proof. you should be fine.

i'm trying to use two coupon codes at checkout but it's only letting me apply one. Is that normal for Becos?

B Brittany Wright 1 month ago
Yep, pretty standard. Most sites, and Becos is definitely one of them, only let you use one code per order. Tried it before, no luck.

Afraid so, bud. Every coupon I've ever used there, whether it was for signing up or a holiday special, was single use. No stacking allowed.

Hey, anyone ordered some Arita ware from here before? Wondering how they handle the shipping for fragile stuff, like if it actually arrives in one piece to the US.

L Lisa Ramirez 1 month ago
Yeah, I got a sake set last month, super delicate cups. It was packed really well, like, absurd amounts of bubble wrap and custom foam. No issues for me, came perfect.

Can confirm, my Nambu Tekki tea pot arrived pristine. They use really sturdy boxes too, like double walled almost. I think they know their stuff is breakable.

Thinking of grabbing one of those Edo Kiriko tumblers. Do they ever have sales on those, or should I just go for it now? Not sure if I should wait for Black Friday or something.

M Michael Parker 2 weeks ago
They do seasonal sales sometimes, like around holidays. I got a pretty good deal on some chopsticks during a Mother's Day thing. Could be worth waiting if you're not in a rush.

T Tim H. 2 weeks ago
Tbh, the bigger discounts (like 20-30%) are usually for specific holiday sales. For a first order, you can usually snag a 5-10% off for signing up for emails. Not huge but better than nothing.

Anyone know how long shipping usually takes to California? I want to get a katana letter opener for my dad's birthday next month.

A Amanda N. 2 weeks ago
For me, it took about 10 days to LA, that was with standard shipping. You might want to check the express option if you're cutting it close for a specific date.

I ordered some ceramics a while back to SF, it was roughly 2 weeks. Pretty typical for international stuff from Japan, I think. You've probably got enough time.

Thinking of signing up for the newsletter, does that actually get you a decent discount? Or is it just like, 5% off a $500 item?

S Stephanie Lewis 2 weeks ago
It's usually a flat amount off, like 500 or 1000 yen. Not a huge percentage on the really expensive stuff, but nice for smaller buys or if you're getting a few things.
2
R Robert A. 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I got 1000 yen off my first order when I signed up. It's not massive but every little bit helps, especially with international shipping sometimes.

Is this site legit? Like, are these actual handmade Japanese crafts or just some mass-produced stuff they're selling as 'authentic'?

S Sam Rivera 2 weeks ago
Totally legit. I've bought a few things, including some Imabari towels and a Kokeshi doll, and the quality is amazing. You can tell it's handmade.

Yeah, I had the same concern. But everything I've gotten, especially the chef knives, feels super high quality and traditional. Not like cheap knock-offs at all.

Are the products on Becos actually handmade, or is it just 'handmade style' like some other places? Wanna make sure it's authentic.

J Jason Turner 1 month ago
They're definitely real deal handmade. The descriptions usually talk about the specific artisans or traditions. I got a tea bowl and it feels totally unique.

T Thomas Torres 1 month ago
From what I understand, they only source from traditional craftspeople. Not mass produced at all, which is why some pieces can be pricey but worth it.
